Your assets, on every frequency market we can reach.

Volton is the aggregator. We prequalify your devices, bid them every 15 minutes and pay out what they earn. There is no monthly fee.

The service

What an aggregator actually does.

We prequalify. Every device is tested against the operator’s technical requirements and registered under Volton’s licence. You sign once.

We bid. The pool is offered into each market every 15 minutes, at the price the forecast says it should clear.

We dispatch. When the operator calls, the response leaves our control system in under a second. Your device flexes, then returns.

We settle. The operator pays Volton, Volton pays you. Your share is itemised month by month in the app.

The widths show time, not money. Both markets settle in 15-minute periods: capacity pays for every one of them, activation only for the ones the grid actually calls.

Questions

What asset owners ask us.

What is the frequency market?

The grid has to stay at exactly 50 Hz. Transmission operators pay for capacity that can push power in or pull it out within seconds to hold it there. Volton bids your assets into those markets and you are paid for being available, whether or not you are called.

Which assets qualify?

Batteries, heat pumps, chargers and industrial loads. What matters is that the load can be moved or interrupted for a short window without anyone noticing, and that we can measure it. We prequalify the asset with the operator before anything is bid.

Which markets do you bid into?

aFRR, mFRR and the capacity market. Most aggregators run one of the three. Bidding all of them means an asset is earning in whichever market pays best that hour.

What does it cost?

Nothing monthly. There is no base fee and no subscription: Volton takes a share of what your assets earn, so we are paid only when you are. Over €1.5M has been paid out to our customers so far.

Will I notice when an asset is activated?

That is the whole design brief. Activations last seconds to minutes and stay inside limits you set, so a battery cycles, a heat pump shifts a little and the building stays as it was. You can see every activation in the dashboard afterwards.

How long does it take to start?

Once the controller is in and the metering is confirmed, prequalification with the operator is the long pole, and it is measured in weeks rather than months. We handle that paperwork.
