Volton is becoming a Charging Point Operator.
OCPP
Your charger speaks OCPP. So does Volton Home.
The Volton Home app connects to any OCPP-compliant charging point, the open standard the charging industry runs on. No proprietary lock-in, no extra hardware.
Plug-and-trust integration
Pair your wallbox with the Volton Home app over OCPP and it joins your home ecosystem next to the boiler, heat pump and battery.
Cheapest hours, automatically
Tell the app when you need the car ready. It plans the session around tomorrow’s spot prices and charges in the cheapest hours.
Paid by the frequency market
While plugged in, your charger’s spare flexibility helps balance the grid on the frequency market. Every activation is paid by the system operator.
Every session, accounted for
Each charging session lands in your Volton Home overview: the kilowatt-hours, the spot price you paid and what the smart schedule saved you, cent by cent.
Public charging
Public chargers, coming soon.
We are going public, and becoming a Charging Point Operator in our own right. Spot price, transparent margin and frequency-market upside are coming to charging on the go.

Common questions
Will Volton work with my charger?
If it speaks OCPP, yes. Most wallboxes sold in Europe do, because it is the open standard the industry runs on. There is no extra hardware to buy and no vendor lock-in: pair it with the Volton Home app and it joins your home ecosystem.
Will my car still be ready when I need it?
Yes. You tell the app when the car has to be ready, and it plans the session backwards from there, filling the cheapest hours before your deadline. The deadline comes first and the price second.
How does a charger earn on the frequency market?
While the car is plugged in, the spare flexibility in the session can be shifted up or down at short notice. Volton aggregates that with thousands of other devices and bids it into the frequency reserves. Every activation is paid by the system operator, and your share lands in the app.
Do I need the Golden Electricity Package?
No, but it is what makes the saving visible. The package is the spot price plus one fixed transparent margin, so the cheap hours the app finds are actually cheap on your bill.
When do the public chargers arrive?
We are building the network now and have not announced a date. Join the waitlist and you will hear before it goes live.
